As in the last 3 years Roc d ‘Azur is the last big event of the year for OPEN. Over 150’000 people visiting and around 20’000 people racing make it a true event worth for us doing an expo together with our French partner Mohawks. But for me it is personally more than that. It is the first show of the year where things are a little more relaxed and I actually have time to see the products of other brands and network with people. I can see all the small suppliers that before I did not have time to visit and I can get valuable market and trend information as not only I have time for a good discussion, but also most industry people have.

Last year we got like that some extremely valuable information that lead to some important changes in future product development. Only for that it is already worth coming down here. The only downside is that you are inside for 4 days and everybody else enjoys the extremely beautiful area.  Two mornings I got up at 5’45 to go at least for an 1.5 hour ride before the show. It is pretty special to ride here in the dark. You can not see anything but you have all those beautiful smells and as the road is following the cost you can hear the waves and hear the birds…different but very nice. At the end of the loop you experience an amazing sunrise.

Since our French partner has the Velosophe cyclist beer in his product portfolio at least there is something that makes you feel better staying inside each day for 11 hours…

As always there are some crazy and interesting people at the show with some cool gadgets. Last year it was the guy on a Tandem who’s stoker was built  out of lego. This year it is  a guy traveling with a very special trailer…
